Ting is a research scientist at the Environmental Spectroscopy Laboratory headed by Prof. Philip A. Townsend in University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is interested in plant functional traits—chemical and physical aspects of plants—their variation, and their interactions with the environments. In particular, Her research branches into following directions: 1. predicting plant functional traits using imaging spectroscopy and generating reliable trait maps at the regional scale; 2. studying the variation and its biotic/abiotic drivers of the functional traits. She hope these studies could help us better understand how the plants respond to different environmental conditions and shed light on how they may react to future climate changes.
