Matthew Garcia

Matt grew up in New Jersey and has lived in Texas, Colorado, Maryland, Arizona, Missouri, and Wisconsin. He has a B.S. in Physics (1996, Montclair State University), an M.S. in Atmospheric Science (1999, Colorado State University), and an M.S. in Civil Engineering–Hydrology (2003, Colorado State University). He worked on land surface modeling in the Hydrological Sciences Branch at NASA–GSFC and on regional water resource issues at the Arizona Water Institute at the University of Arizona.
Then Matt returned to graduate school and obtained his Ph.D. in Forestry with a concentration in Remote Sensing (2018, University of Wisconsin–Madison). He now specializes in Landsat and multispectral remote sensing analysis and interpretation, weather and climate analyses, statistical modeling of remote sensing image time series, individual-based modeling and complex systems, and Python programming for scientific analyses using distributed computing resources. He has ambitions to work in remote sensing and ecological modeling for the U.S. Forest Service. He loves puzzles.
