Gerrit Hoving

I work to develop methods to detect signals of contamination exposure in plants using imaging spectroscopy data and derived plant traits. My overall goal is to develop generalizable, anomaly-based detection frameworks to link spectrally derived traits and other remotely sensed information to soil and groundwater contamination, with a particular focus on detection of environmental nuclear contamination.
I am currently a PhD student in the Townsend lab. I earned my BA in Geology with a minor in Data Science and Statistics from Carleton College, where I worked with bioacoustic data and habitat modelling for a host-parasite system on Vancouver Island.
